Heating & Cooling
The Nest thermostat in the hallway allows you to control the temperature of the home. We prefer to not cool it to lower than 74F. If you're running the air conditioning, please ensure that all windows and outside doors are closed.

Laundry
The washer and dryer in the laundry room are available for your use. You are welcome to use the detergent and fabric softener in the top right cupboard. Please clean the lint trap before operating the dryer.

Dishwasher
Detergent pods are located beneath the kitchen sink. Place one in the soap trap, press the power button, press the program button of your choice, and then press the start button.

Smart Home
There are many sensors and devices throughout the home. These include modems, WiFi range extenders, smart locks, exterior cameras, etc. Removing or unplugging Alexa or any hardware may result in inability to use the door lock, Internet, TV, and more. Do not remove any device without our permission.

As described in our listing, we use exterior security cameras. Rest assured that there are no interior cameras whatsoever.

Window Shades
The electric roller shades and are controlled using Alexa or the remote on the wall next to the light switches by the large slider. There are four shades numbered 1-4. To open or close them, say:

  • "Alexa, open shade 1" or "Alexa, close shade 1."

  • "Alexa, open shade 2" or "Alexa, close shade 2."

  • "Alexa, open shade 3" or "Alexa, close shade 3."

  • "Alexa, open shade 4" or "Alexa, close shade 4."

Using the TVs
All TVs are equipped with Roku and we provide complimentary access to Prime Video. For Hulu, Netflix, and other streaming services, you can sign into your own accounts. Just remember to log out of your accounts before you leave. There is also a guest mode option in Roku that will sign you out of your accounts on a date you specify. Here's a link that explains how: https://support.roku.com/en-gb/article/360015611254

Music
You’re more than welcome to ask Alexa to play music. Amazon Music is on us! Just ask Alexa to play the artist or station you want. You can even ask her to play trivia and other games. We just ask you to be mindful about volumes, especially during quiet hours of 10pm-10am. City rules dictate that no music be played outside or be heard from beyond the property lines. Please also enjoy the record player in the nook. Records from the likes of Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand are in the cabinet.

Coffee
Here's a link to a video that shows you how to operate the coffee machine: https://youtu.be/sIQqs2Xi-30.

Convertible Sofa
Pull the orange sofa away from the wall and pull the top of the sofa toward you. (You may need to move the foosball table.) Then let it fall back until it lays flat. Bedding is in the primary bedroom closet. A twin air mattress and bedding are there as well. Note that the two comforters in the primary closet contain down feathers. Use the throw blankets in the house if you are allergic.

Parking
To reduce congestion for our neighbors, we prefer that you park in the garage. You may also park in the driveway. We have provided a garage door opener for your use. Please remember to leave it in the house when you depart.

If you come in and out through the garage, please be mindful of the washer and dryer behind the door. You shouldn't be able to push the door so far that it will dent the appliances, but it is possible with enough force. So just be aware.

Using the Pool
We will likely have discussed optional pool heat when you booked. If you have paid the additional fee, we will turn it on before you arrive. The pool is cleaned every Tuesday and Friday between the hours of 10am and 4pm; the pool cleaner may enter the backyard through the side yard unannounced.

The spa is controlled through Alexa. Just say "Alexa, ask Pentair Pool to turn on/off the spa". Please do not tamper with the pool equipment. For any little ones in your party, please recognize that there are several access points to the pool. For everyone’s safety, each door will make an audible sound when opened. Please listen for those sounds when your little ones are out of sight.

We have a strict rule about glass outside by the pool. It's very costly to drain the pool to find broken pieces of glass. So use glass dishes and soda/beer bottles inside only. You can find outdoor dishes in the island to the right of the kitchen sink.

Absolutely no diving. Swim at your own risk.

Wind
If you see the wind pick up, please lower and tie down umbrellas. And keep all pool floats in the garage so they don't blow into the cacti. We've lost a couple pool floats this way.

Fire Pit
To use the fire pit, turn the dial about half-way (or less) and press the igniter button. We don't have a way to turn this off remotely, so please make sure it is completely off before you go to bed or before you leave.

Barbecue
To use the barbecue, turn on the gas valve at the wall. (There is no propane tank.) Turn the knob on the barbecue and press the igniter button until it lights. When you are done, be sure to turn off the gas at the wall and put the cover back on. It will land in the pool if it gets windy!

Trash and Recycling
We have trash, recycling, and yard waste bins on the side of the house. The city provides walk-up service and will empty the cans every Tuesday morning.

Gardening
Our gardener performs service once a month and will perform services without notice to guests.

Maintenance & Housekeeping Concerns
If something is not right when you arrive or if any issues arise during your stay, please let us know so we can resolve the problem right away. We also ask that you inform us of any accidents or damages that occur so we can ensure the home is in good condition for the next guests. Similarly, if there is anything you need to make your stay more comfortable, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Safety Info & Rules

House Rules
Our home is in a residential community populated by families and working professionals. We pride ourselves on being good neighbors and ask that you treat the home and our neighbors as you would your own. As noted in our listing, we have strict policies regarding noise, smoking, and occupancy limits. We strictly enforce the following rules:

  • No music outside that can be heard from beyond the property line*

  • No smoking or vaping**

  • No parties (4 additional daytime guests are allowed)

  • No glass outside (exterior dishes are in the island to the right of the sink)

  • No pets

  • No overnight guests not named in the booking

  • No firearms

  • No drug use

  • No alcohol consumption by guests under 21

  • No fireworks/hazardous materials

*If the city is alerted to music being played outside, they may fine you as much as $500.

**If you choose to smoke outside, please be aware of open doors or windows, as we don't want smoke inside the house. We ask that you respect our neighbors and not smoke near any residences. Furthermore, do not dispose of cigarette butts outside (including on the street, driveway, or sidewalk).

Treat Our Home with Care
We have taken painstaking detail to fully equip the home with the midcentury modern decor we all know and love. This is not the kind of furniture you will find on Facebook Marketplace. Please treat everything with care.

Note that it is possible to dent the washing machine by opening the door to the garage with too much force. Also, please do not open the refrigerator and the drawer next to it at the same time. Stainless steel dents easily!

If anything breaks or gets damaged during your stay, please let us know immediately. We reserve the right to ask to be reimbursed for any damage.

Quiet Hours
We ask that you respect our neighbors' right to a peaceful existence. Specifically between the hours of 10pm and 10am, noise should be kept to a minimum. The city has designated these as "quiet hours".

Safety
Our home is located in a safe neighborhood, but please use common sense and good judgment. Important reminders:

  • Car prowls can happen in any neighborhood. Remove valuables from your car and lock car doors. Better yet, park in the garage.

  • Do not order mail or packages to be delivered to the home. There are many Amazon lockers in the area that you can use to receive deliveries.

  • When you are away, please be sure to lock all doors and windows.

  • In case of emergency: Dial 911

The local hospital is Desert Regional Medical Center:

For non-emergencies call:

The fire extinguisher and first-aid kit are located in the laundry room.

Combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are located throughout the home. In the event of a power outage, the devices have a battery back-up. If there is a low battery, the detector will beep once every few minutes. Please let us know if this happens.

The gas shut-off valve is located on the side of the house behind the trash/recycling bins.

Things to Do

Bars & Nightlife
Palm Springs has great bars and nightlife. Seymour's is a speakeasy style bar with a great vintage vibe. It's located downtown inside Mr. Lyons Steakhouse which has free valet parking (no validation necessary). Go inside and ask the host to show you to the bar. Truss & Twine is another favorite downtown spot for drinks before dinner. Revel Public House, also downtown, is a great place to have a drink and watch your favorite team play. For live entertainment, Palm Springs Life Magazine recommends Vicky's of Santa Fe in Indian Wells. Also take a look at Purple Room Supper Club in downtown Palm Springs, Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, and Agua Caliente Casinos with locations in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and Rancho Mirage.

Until Next Time

Checkout Time
Checkout time is at 11am. If you require a later check-out, we’ll do our best to accommodate you but there may be an additional fee. If we have guests arriving that day it may be difficult to offer a late check-out due to the cleaners needing to prepare for those guests.

Departure Checklist

  • Load the dishwasher and start it

  • Take trash and recycling out to the bins on the side of the house

  • Lower and tie up umbrellas and put pool floats in the garage

  • If you moved furniture or other items, return them to their original location

  • If you used any extra bedding, leave it in the laundry room so we know to wash it

  • Close and lock all doors and windows

  • Turn off all lights and the thermostat

  • Make sure all appliances, barbecue, and fire pit are off

  • Close the garage and leave the garage door opener where you found it

  • Pull the front door shut behind you and make sure it locks by touching the lock icon on the lower right

There's no need to strip the beds. If it's convenient for you, my cleaner would love it if you would wash pool towels, especially in the Spring. Laundry is one of those things that takes a while. Don't forget to log out of your TV streaming services. And triple check the house to ensure you haven't left anything behind!

We want to make sure you're having a 5-star experience, so let us know if you have any questions before checking out.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking care of the place. We hope to see you again soon!
