Cabazon Dinosaurs

The Cabazon Dinosaurs, also known as Claude Bell’s Dinosaurs, are a set of enormous concrete statues located off of Interstate 10 in Cabazon, California.

These statues have been a popular roadside attraction since the 1960s, drawing visitors from all over the world to marvel at their size and unique design.

The first statue, a 150-foot-long Brontosaurus named Dinny, was built in the 1960s by sculptor and theme park artist Claude Bell. Bell had originally planned to create a giant apatosaurus as a way to attract customers to his nearby restaurant, but decided to change his plans and build a brontosaurus instead because of its popularity with children.

After Dinny was completed, Bell began work on a second statue, a towering T-Rex named Rex, which was completed after his death in 1981. The Cabazon Dinosaurs continue to draw visitors from all over the world. The statues have been featured in numerous films and television shows, including Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and The Simpsons, and have become a cultural icon in their own right.

The Cabazon Dinosaurs are a unique and fascinating piece of Americana, and a testament to the enduring appeal of prehistoric creatures. Whether you’re a dinosaur enthusiast or simply looking for a fun and quirky roadside attraction, the Cabazon Dinosaurs are definitely worth a visit
